Staff Introductions

It is an honor to introduce to you all: Bro. Randy Ray, Hospice Chaplain


Bro. Randy is one of the few original employees of Ascend Hospice, having served in the Hospice Ministry with four different companies for 25 plus years. Bro Randy has a heart for ministry and serves in several different capacities. He has been a pastor almost 45 years serving in five different Baptist churches and is presently serving as Pastor of the St. Rest Baptist Church, Dubach, Louisiana, for the second time. Bro. Randy wears several different hats in the ministry. Presently he is the President of a non-profit organization called Kingdom Builders for the Lord, Inc. Kingdom Builders is composed of over two hundred volunteers whose primary purpose is to build or remodel small churches. Over the past twenty years they have help many churches and para-ministries from the Dakotas to Trinidad. Bro. Randy also writes a weekly column called “A Line of Truth” for the Jena Times in Jena, Louisiana. Presently he is also teaching a Seminary Extension class on the Gospel of Mark at the Missions and Ministry center in Ruston, LA. Bro Randy is graduate of Calhoun High School. He began his religious studies at Louisiana College in Pineville, Louisiana, receiving a B.A with a double major in Sociology and Religious Education. From there he attended the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary where he received a Master of Divinity in Biblical Studies and Preaching. He later attended the same Seminary and received a Doctor of Ministry degree in Church Leadership and Administration with emphasis in team building. Bro. Randy and his wife Lisa now live in Simsboro where they have been remodeling an older house. They are avid Louisiana Tech Baseball fans. They have one daughter Cameron who is a Speech Pathologist in Prosper, Texas. Bro. Randy says that he defines ministry as “Helping people meet the needs in their lives” and the Hospice profession is a ministry that helps people, both patient and caregivers meet demanding needs in their lives.


We are very thankful for Bro. Randy and his spiritual guidance. We also love his humor and his sweet personality. He is a blessing here at Ascend for sure!
